OUR STORY
The Memphis Essential Millennials Foundation was established April 2024 by Damara Crawford, a Memphis native and a proud product of the historic Orange Mound community.
By day, Damara excels as a Sales Account Manager at FedEx Services, leveraging her skills and expertise. Nonetheless, her evenings are dedicated to her passion project: managing a nonprofit aimed at supporting youth and millennials in Memphis. Her foundation focuses on crucial areas such as community safety, education access, and conflict resolution, reflecting her belief in targeted investments for community advancement.

Reflecting on her childhood, where three of her great-grandmothers owned homes in Orange Mound and one still resides, Damara finds inspiration in the resilience and spirit of her upbringing. This legacy is dear to her heart and continues to shape her journey as a God-fearing millennial.

Communities like Orange Mound, with their rich cultural heritage and strong bonds, serve as pillars of strength and pride for those who call them home. In our tight-knit community, the wise saying "it takes a village to raise a child" was not just a saying but a cherished way of life.
As a black millennial leader, Damara exemplifies how collaboration and community support can drive significant change. It's a part of who she is, a source of strength, and a reminder of perseverance.
